COMMUNITY LITTER PICK – SATURDAY 13 APRIL 2019

As part of the Great British Spring Clean 22 March – 23 April 2019, a successful litter pick took place around Sutton Parish on 13 April, when over 45 bags of rubbish were collected and incidents of fly tipping were reported to DDC.
For the size of the community it was a disappointing turnout, but the 16 volunteers who turned up were enthusiastic and made a great contribution to how our lanes and roads look. A very big thank you to each and every one.

The following roads were Litter Picked – Downs Road – through Sutton Village – Vale Road – Beacon Hill – Little Mongeham Road – Willow Woods Road – Gaggs Hill – Strakers Hill – Roman Road (entire length) – Stoneheap Lane – Homestead Lane – Chapple Lane – Waldershare Road (to junction with Sandwich Road) Little America.

This is nearly EVERY ROAD within the Parish – A Fantastic effort  – Once again well done to our 16 Volunteers

About Sutton By Dover

Approaching the Parish from Whitfield, the straight single-track road follows the ridge of the Downs. On either-side, large fields sweep down into dry valleys. This is open chalky landscape: Harrier and Skylark country, running through the Parish are the North Downs Way and the White Cliffe Country Trail. Here you find the small villages of Ashley Studdal, Sutton , as well as the hamlets of Little Mongeham and Maydensole these were joined together in 1935 to become the Parish of Sutton By Dover.
