Dover District Council will be undertaking a district wide housing needs survey, that was approved by our Cabinet on 7 November 2022.
Housing needs surveys are used by local authorities to identify housing issues and solutions that can be used to make strategic decisions related to the current and future housing needs of communities. They also help to inform policy decisions and / or help to secure financing for affordable housing programmes and projects.
More information about affordable housing can be found by visiting our webpage.
The Survey will be open from 10 January 2023 until 7 March 2023.
The survey is now open! Click here to complete the District Housing Needs Survey 2023 online.
Why are we doing this?
We want to hear from all district residents to ensure we are delivering the affordable homes that local people need.
The housing needs survey aims to determine:
- If the housing needs of residents of the district are already being met;
- If there is a need for new, affordable homes over the next few years, and if so, the amount that is required;
- Who is in need and what type of accommodation they require.
The results of the survey will help to shape a new Affordable Housing Strategy, which is designed to ensure the affordable homes required for local people are delivered, either by the Council or by other Registered Providers, such as Housing Associations.
Why you should get involved
This gives you an excellent opportunity to tell us about your current housing situation and your housing need in the future, whether that’s moving because your home no longer meets your needs, or if you will need to make adaptations to your home so that you can remain in it.
The Survey will also ask all residents their views and opinions on what affordable homes should be built in their communities and the district to meet local needs.
How you can complete the survey
The survey is now open and can be completed online. The survey does have an immersive reader function which reads to questions out as well as a translation function. To activate either, please follow this short guide.
If you have difficulty completing the survey online, please contact us on HousingNeedSurvey@dover.gov.uk.
All responses will be anonymous and treated with the strictest of confidence. You can find out more about how we protect data by visiting our Corporate Privacy Statement.
