For some considerable time Parishioners have been concerned about traffic speeding through the Parish, and this had been debated on a number of occasions at Parish Council meetings. In the spring of 2017 the Parish Council requested KCC commission traffic surveys on the Parishes’ behalf at six locations throughout the Parish. The cost of the surveys was met by the Parish Council with additional funding from KCC Councillor Steve Manion’s Local Member Grant Scheme.
The traffic surveys would identify how much of a problem speeding was, and give a baseline against which to measure any increases in the volume of traffic caused by the Whitfield development. The surveys would also provide data on the size of vehicles using our narrow lanes and ancient highways. This information could be considered when planning permissions are discussed for large housing developments in or around our Parish in the future.
The raw data from the survey readings has been interpreted into easily understandable graphs and these can be viewed below. Parishioners are welcome to attend Parish Council meetings (1st Tuesday in the month) to raise any issues they may have to do with this subject or any other.
